Judges 2:4 meaning and explanation
When the angel of the LORD had spoken these words to all the Israelites, the people lifted up their voices and wept.
Judges 2:4, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The angel of the LORD, a messenger speaking with divine authority, has just confronted Israel at Bochim with God's charge: they failed to tear down the altars of the land's inhabitants, so those peoples will become thorns and their gods a snare (verses 1 to 3). The words reach "all the Israelites," a gathered assembly rather than a few leaders.
