Luke 13:31 meaning and explanation

At that very hour, some Pharisees came to Jesus and told Him, “Leave this place and get away, because Herod wants to kill You.”

Luke 13:31, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

These Pharisees come to Jesus with an urgent warning: Herod Antipas, ruler of Galilee, wants Him dead, so He should leave the region. The timing is striking, since Jesus has just spoken of the kingdom's slow growth and the narrow door, and Luke places the warning "at that very hour." In Luke's Gospel Pharisees are not uniformly hostile; some here act as informants or well-wishers.
