Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.

Explanation preview
Paul is speaking to believers in Rome who know the Jewish law, and he has just used the picture of a wife freed from her marriage by her husband's death. Here he applies it to them: through Christ's body, that is, his death, they have died to the law as a binding master.
