Amos 4:13 meaning and explanation
For behold, He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind and reveals His thoughts to man, who turns the dawn to darkness and strides on the heights of the earth— the LORD, the God of Hosts, is His name.”
Amos 4:13, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Amos has just announced judgment on wealthy women of Samaria and on Israel's empty religion, and he closes the chapter with a hymn naming the God who is about to act. The verse piles up participles: the One who forms mountains, creates wind (ruach, which can also mean spirit or breath), reveals His thoughts to human beings, turns dawn to darkness, and strides on the high places of the earth.
