Job 17:16 meaning and explanation
Will it go down to the gates of Sheol? Will we go down together into the dust?”
Job 17:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Job is speaking to God, worn down by suffering and by friends who insist his pain must be punishment. In verse 15 he has asked where his hope is, and here he pictures hope as something that might travel with him into Sheol, the Hebrew name for the realm of the dead, and into the dust from which humans were formed.
