Day 193: Psalms 148 - Proverbs 3

Bible in a year reading for day 193.

Psalms 148

  1. 10 wild animals and all cattle, crawling creatures and flying birds,
  2. 11 kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth,
  3. 12 young men and maidens, old and young together.
  4. 13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
  5. 14 He has raised up a horn for His people, the praise of all His saints, of Israel, a people near to Him. Hallelujah!

Psalms 149

  1. 1 Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song— His praise in the assembly of the godly.
  2. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.
  3. 3 Let them praise His name with dancing, and make music to Him with tambourine and harp.
  4. 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the afflicted with salvation.
  5. 5 Let the saints exult in glory; let them shout for joy upon their beds.
  6. 6 May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a double-edged sword in their hands,
  7. 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
  8. 8 to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with shackles of iron,
  9. 9 to execute the judgment written against them. This honor is for all His saints. Hallelujah!

Psalms 150

  1. 1 Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
  2. 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him for His excellent greatness.
  3. 3 Praise Him with the sound of the horn; praise Him with the harp and lyre.
  4. 4 Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flute.
  5. 5 Praise Him with clashing cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals.
  6. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!

Proverbs 1

  1. 1 These are the proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel,
  2. 2 for gaining wisdom and discipline, for comprehending words of insight,
  3. 3 and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness, justice, and equity.
  4. 4 To impart prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young,
  5. 5 let the wise listen and gain instruction, and the discerning acquire wise counsel
  6. 6 by understanding the proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.
  7. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
  8. 8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother.
  9. 9 For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck.
  10. 10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not yield to them.
  11. 11 If they say, “Come along, let us lie in wait for blood, let us ambush the innocent without cause,
  12. 12 let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole like those descending into the Pit.
  13. 13 We will find all manner of precious goods; we will fill our houses with plunder.
  14. 14 Throw in your lot with us; let us all share one purse”—
  15. 15 my son, do not walk the road with them or set foot upon their path.
  16. 16 For their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed blood.
  17. 17 How futile it is to spread the net where any bird can see it!
  18. 18 But they lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives.
  19. 19 Such is the fate of all who are greedy, whose unjust gain takes the lives of its possessors.
  20. 20 Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square;
  21. 21 in the main concourse she cries aloud, at the city gates she makes her speech:
  22. 22 “How long, O simple ones, will you love your simple ways? How long will scoffers delight in their scorn and fools hate knowledge?
  23. 23 If you had repented at my rebuke, then surely I would have poured out my spirit on you; I would have made my words known to you.
  24. 24 Because you refused my call, and no one took my outstretched hand,
  25. 25 because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction,
  26. 26 in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,
  27. 27 when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.
  28. 28 Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will earnestly seek me, but will not find me.
  29. 29 For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD.
  30. 30 They accepted none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof.
  31. 31 So they will eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
  32. 32 For the waywardness of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.
  33. 33 But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil.”

Proverbs 2

  1. 1 My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,
  2. 2 if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,
  3. 3 if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,
  4. 4 if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,
  5. 5 then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.
  6. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  7. 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,
  8. 8 to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.
  9. 9 Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.
  10. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.
  11. 11 Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,
  12. 12 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,
  13. 13 from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,
  14. 14 from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,
  15. 15 whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.
  16. 16 It will rescue you from the forbidden woman, from the stranger with seductive words
  17. 17 who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.
  18. 18 For her house sinks down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits.
  19. 19 None who go to her return or negotiate the paths of life.
  20. 20 So you will follow in the ways of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous.
  21. 21 For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
  22. 22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.

Proverbs 3

  1. 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments;
  2. 2 for they will add length to your days, years and peace to your life.
  3. 3 Never let loving devotion or faithfulness leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
  4. 4 Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.
  5. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
  6. 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
  7. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
  8. 8 This will bring healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.
  9. 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your harvest;
  10. 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
